Challenges faced by Remote Workers

Companies and their employees have met many challenges with the transition to remote working. Examples of these challenges include their computers at home being slow,  many distractions while being home and not having all of the resources at home that you would normally have in the office. 

A main concern for companies and their employees is that employees do not have access to computers and high speed WIFI while working from home. Not being in the office, you don’t have a team of workers who can solve computer issues as they occur. This can reduce productivity since there is more down time if the internet goes out or if other computer issues occur. Another challenge is not having your coworkers right next to you to ask a quick question or to work on a project together. This can push back due dates and be difficult to complete more time consuming tasks. 

Employees quickly realized how hard it was to work from home since they also had to start teaching their children at the same time. Trying to be productive with work and trying to make sure your child is also learning can be a very difficult task. Besides teaching, taking care of your children and having them run around while you’re working can make trying to be productive hard.  

Working remotely has also increased the number of cyber-attacks since everyone isn’t always using a secure network. An example of this is if an employee decides they want to work from a coffee shop to try and get more work done, the WIFI at these places isn’t always going to be secure. This leaves more room for an attacker to be able to get access into their computer, putting company information at high risk.
