The world of IT security is a scary place, and it seems like the bad guys are winning. Most recently, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and Global Affairs Canada were scrambling to respond to cyberattacks targeting their networks. As a result, personal information of users, including employees, were compromised. While it is unclear whether these incidents are related, it is a example of a large organization falling victim to a cyber-attack.

For this reason, it is crucial you and your company are taking the necessary steps to protect yourselves as well as your organization from cyber threats. Did you know that 95% of security breaches today are caused by human error?

You and your fellow employees are far more likely to open a link if its sent via a collaboration tool right? But don’t forget that this is just as risky as opening a link from someone externally.

Don’t assume. Check with the person who sent the link to make sure that it came from them.

  • Never trust an attachment, even if it looks promising. Hackers want these attachments to fit in with the other documents you receive daily, hoping you are more inclined to open them.

Work on those passwords!

  • Create a strong password. Manage all of your passwords using a password management tool.
  •  Use different passwords for all of your online accounts.
  • Always activate multi-factor authentication.

Web browsers are full of cyber threats. Make sure you are keeping yourself protected by avoiding risks online.

  • Think before you click on any links. You never know what they will point you to.
  • Very rarely is FREE wifi FREE. Use wifi that is complimentary to your discretion.

No IT service provider can promise you’ll never get hacked. But here's what we can do:

  • Provide you with the best tools we can find
  • Deploy them intelligently to reduce the chances an attacker will get through
  • Limit the damage malware can do if you are hacked
  • Respond quickly to eliminate any problems that occur
